Bo'ness Real Ale Appreciation Society

9th Annual Real Ale Festival
Tuesday, 08 September 2009 00:00

Bo'ness Town Hall, Stewart Avenue, Bo'ness
Friday 2 October 2009 5pm till 11pm
Saturday 3 October 2009 12 noon till 11pm

This year's Bo'ness Real Ale Festival is a week earlier and will be as good as and even better than last year.

BRAAS will continue with a music theme with some great entertainment on both evenings:-

  • Friday - Pure Malt
  • Saturday - Uncle Red (main hall)
  • Saturday - Stuart Simpson/Nick Putnam (library)

As you will see from the above, this year we are also taking over the library across from the main hall. Given the numbers now attending we were reaching the maximum allowed, under health & safety regulations, in the main hall so...

Both Stuart and Nick will be playing their own brand of music, folk/rock style and acoustic guitar respectively. So, if you want a little bit of quiet to have a chat the library could be the place to be!

And, of course, you can take your choice of beers from a great range of local beers & ales as well.

Commemorative Glass

As in past years we like to commemorate some special or significant event which contributes in some way to Bo'ness but this year it is slightly different.

Get Hearty campaign 2009 Festival Logo - Get Hearty

Our local paper, The Bo'ness Journal, ran a Get Hearty campaign feature asking for local support to purchase a defibrillator for the town and Bo'ness Academy raised funds to purchase one.

Festival sponsorship helps buy defibrilator

Each year all of our beers are sponsored by local businesses so all the proceeds add to the fund and the excess distributed to local good causes and groups for the benefit of the town. You, of course, help by finishing it all off for us and there is generally none wasted.

However, this year it was easy to make the decision to support the Get Hearty campaign and 1500, the cost of each machine, was donated so a second could be purchased.

This year's festival logo is in support of the campaign. And you can help again this year...

As usual, to fill the glasses there will be 29+ local scottish beers available from the following breweries for your enjoyment:-

  • Bridge of Allan
  • City of Stirling
  • Devon Ales
  • Harviestoun
  • Inveralmond
  • Stewart Brewing
  • Tryst Brewery
  • Williams Bros
  • maybe a cider or two
  • and more...

Now in its 9th year the Bo'ness Real Ale Festival continues to go from strength to strength:-

  • More sponsors
  • More great entertainment
  • More variety of real ales
  • and, of course, more of YOU, who without, the Festival would not exist

so its a big thanks to everyone who contributed to making last year's festival such a success, in one way or another, and we look forward to seeing you again this year.
