Bo'ness Real Ale Festival 2013

Planning for this year's annual real ale festival is well underway (everyone will be glad to hear).

Unsurprisingly, we continue to enjoy putting it on, and we  know that everyone able to attend, all seem to enjoy it too! So...

Dates for your diary in 2013

Again, this year the festival is being held in the first week of October (everything going well, hoped to be our fixed time from now on):

Bo'ness Town Hall

  • Friday 4 October, 5pm till 11pm
  • Saturday 5 October, Noon till 11pm

Band, beer and burgers (same title as last year as I always like alliteration)!

Band. Like last year it is going to be a wee bit different in that there will only be a band on Saturday night! Why?

A lot of visitors like to come and listen to the music and that's great but many also said that it is sometimes too loud to just have a chat with friends. And, we like to think we listen to who really matters!

Friday night will be a quiet night (as far as music goes that is) with only some in the background to take the edge of the deafening silence! Again, we've booked the same entertainment for Saturday.

They seemed to go down pretty well, just like the ale so it seemed like a good move. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, as the saying goes!

Hope you agree but your opinions are always welcome and wll be taken into consideration for future festivals. Future festivals! It doesn't really need saying every year as this will be the 13th and we intend to just keep on going as long as you want to come!

Beer. There will also be the same varied selection of ales to sample, some you'll already know and some that will be new and not tasted before from new breweries as well.

The good news is that there are a good many more breweries to choose from these days, unlike the early days, and we are going to try and take, at least, 2 beers from each and top up (so to speak) where needed if one or two have new ales not been on the bar before.

Harry's Bar, after the continuing success of previous years, will feature an International beer range, expanding on the previous years' Belgian & American themes. There will be a good selection to sample from through in the library.

Burgers. There will be the usual range of pub type grub as there always has been in previous years in addition to the ever popular burgers and, of course, pies and soft drinks (for those unfortunates who have to drive)!

So, get these dates into your organiser, diary or smartphone and keep in touch for updates (you can also follow us on Twitter). And, we'll see you then!
